it's my new thing. the way it feels, how many needles it can break, i just love working with it! the button is made from an old cuff link i bought for 25 cents. both of the photos made the leather appear a lot darker than what it actually is. i tried to fix it but failed. starting out simple, but soon i want to learn how to make designs into this stuff! hopefully my dad doesn't look at this site, because this is his christmas gift.

oldies
found these in the bowels of my basement last weekend. these are from my very first semester of college, or should i say, the only time during my college career when i kinda sorta cared about what i was doing. you can still see where i skimmed over stuff to "get a project done," but there's something about these that i like. i regret my lack of a portfolio during the course of these years, but this has given me extra motivation now. however, my current obstacle is my obsession with crafting and not of painting/drawing. but i suspect that these will combine in my future.

IF YOU ARE KATH LAMB, LOOK AWAY!!!!
Because this is the post card I sent you in the mail
Just some scraps I found lying around. After much deliberation, I have decided that this little number is just one big commentary on sex, in every way. Which makes sense if you compare it to the books I'm currently reading:
History of Mistresses: a history of the "other woman"
1Q84
and soon to start, The Windup Girl
Not to mention I just finished Narcissus and Goldmund.
cold days, good books.

kitty pin
as my adventure in embroidery continues i will find new and interesting ways to incorporate these stitches. firstly there is a pin. there was then a patch of a choo-choo train, but i gave that to my friend without taking a photo of it. next, working it into paintings?

Another Cat
The wonderful thing about having such a nice frame is that it makes even the most simple of drawings feel and look somewhat good. Anyways, I'm trying to catch up on my "one drawing a week" thing that I missed out on the last two weeks. Whoops! I guess simple drawings are a good way to do that.
What's next you may ask? Learning how to embroider and sewing more things onto my stuff sweater.
So far on the stuff sweater I have sewed on:
a hood
a patch
a fancy pin thing

Secrets
I like to keep things under wraps, but whatever. Here's a bit of the cat fiasco that's happening in St. Paul.
Now that I can use my nice scanner at work, expect more updates...maybe. This little number was from my Italy days. The colors didn't turn out quite like the real thing, but it never really does.

in the meantime...
since i cannot upload any pictures that i have made, i shall post some art from a fellow artist of whom i met in sofia, bulgaria. first with a little backstory...
there has been yet another dumb and stupid change to faccebook... a coverphoto. since i was in bulgaria when this change happened i decided to represent and search for a bulgarian artist for such a pride position. while searching, i came across a painting of an old blues singer by the artist named darry. cool. bulgarian art about the american music i enjoy.
so another day came and i went walking after dark around the streets of sofia only to walk directly smack into darry's own personal studio. he was not there, of course, so the next day i returned and lo-behold there he was! glasses n all!
i went into his studio, introduced myself and told him of my tale of discovering his work. he was flattered and invited me and lee up to his private home where we spent the next hour or so playing his guitars, drooling at his paintings, and sweating at the sight of his provocative leather sculptures.
we left with him asking us to come back the next day so that he could gift us with something before our departure.
i apologize for the poor quality of this story. just look at his website

travels abroad
for now this layout will do, but i solemnly promise to take better care of said blog, and by golly, do i also promise to dedicate this blog to all of my large and small art-doings. for starters, i have done a tiny series of typical italian art scene postcards. they were to be sold at a flower festival, but alas i have given too many away and made too few.
